Uber integrates its driver app with Apple CarPlay • AapkaDost

Uber drivers who own an iPhone will soon be able to use the Uber app directly from their car’s dashboard while using Apple’s CarPlay, according to an email sent to drivers and viewed by AapkaDost.

The integration has been rolled out to drivers in the US and all drivers should have access to it by the end of the month.

CarPlay is an Apple product used by most major car manufacturers to allow the head unit to be a display and controller for an iOS device. By integrating the Uber driver app into CarPlay, drivers don’t have to switch between their phone and the screen, or between apps, to view and accept rides, navigate, and add rides to their queue.

It will also benefit drivers by giving them access to a larger screen, making it easier to view features of Uber’s navigation system, including heatmaps where demand is high, more routes and the sides of streets.

Here are the steps drivers need to follow to connect the Uber driver app to CarPlay, by email from Uber:

  1. Open the app on your iPhone and tap Go to go online.
  2. Connect your iPhone to your car with a cable or wirelessly.
  3. Once connected, open CarPlay and off you go!
